Jem is currently starting up a Fair Trade arm that will offer Fair Trade products in Australia and in doing so support poor workers within the developing world. Jem believes in the radical potential that Fair Trade has to alleviate poor communities from the poverty cycle. More to come so stay tuned…

Jem seeks to be a voice within the rich west, for those whose pain would not otherwise be heard. Jem aims to encourage people, particularly Christians, to take an active role in supporting community aid development and will provide practical opportunities for them to do so. This is done by some of the following:

• Child sponsorship programs.
• Brochures of projects from around the world.
• Creative events that promote awareness for differing current needs overseas.
• Helping to equip young people in ministry and mission by supporting them in further training and education.

Jem is passionate about creating global awareness and concern within High schools. Jem is implementing and developing Global education within existing curriculum. As well as providing outlined material, there is a networking of guest speakers to discuss social justice issues to relevant classes. Jem is also creating Global Community Action groups within student bodies, which encourage and embody the following things:

• Fundraising for global causes.
• Linking in child sponsorship and pen-pals.
• Peer education on poverty/injustice.
• Networking international speakers on development issues.

Part of Global Education is also to create opportunities for students to travel on short- term mission trips where appropriate.
