JEM (Justice. Empowerment. Mission) is a not-for-profit Christian organisation run by a team of young people committed to Justice, Empowerment and Mission within our local and global community.

We are currently based in Melbourne, Australia where we seek to heal, disciple, equip and empower young people. Our three major arms are; Empowerment, Global Link and Advocacy.

Jem was set up approximately ten years ago as Youth Mobilization by John and Jane Houston, through a need to support young people and their families. It began as a grassroots ministry stemming out of a family home.

Over the years Jem has helped countless young people struggling with life-controlling issues, crisis care, early pregnancy or simply just needing somewhere to stay. It also became a safe haven for youth, many who were often on the very fringe of society.

Jem began to expand in international links – with overseas experience aiding in the healing process of many young people. It also began to develop preventative measures for at-risk teenagers within high schools and the broader community.
